Guestbook - 1998

This is the Manfred Fan Club Page!... at least for now. :)

Yeah, it's been down for a while now. However, you're not missing much. Part of the reason why I made this page was because the "official" site was quite weak! : )

Thanks! I don't have that information yet, but you'll be the first one to know when I get it. The guy that runs the official WSM page has been trying to get a hold of Manfred, but hasn't succeeded yet.

It's all coming... hang tight!

There's a little bit of training advice at the end of the article. There's also a lot of training advice in the book and in Full Strength! athletic magazine. But yeah, I'll be sure to add more.

Hmmmm... I'm not familiar with him. I believe that there is a fat guy with bigger arms, but I don't know of anybody who has bigger muscular arms. What's his name?

Make sure you read the interview and Manfred's entries in this guestbook. It looks like he's done competing. He's now devoted to promoting strength athletics and the AFSA.

There's some training advice at the end of the article. There's also a lot of information in the book. But yeah, I'll be sure to add more to the website.

I've never heard of this Isaac Nesser guy. Do you have any pics? Arm measurements are always exaggerated. Manfred is the only person I know that actually has arms that are bigger then 25 inches. There are guys that claim 25 inch arms that turn out to be 20!

I don't know why they always measure arms cold. Perhaps it's because there are different ways to flex them and that would just make things even more complicated.

I assume that you mean "creatine." To tell you the truth, I don't know if Manfred uses creatine, but I do know that Magnus is a big fan. I'm using it myself and I like the results so far. This site is more of a fan site then a training site, but here is a link to a very good article about creatine:

http://www.musclemedia.com/magazine/v67/creatine.html

Well, before the accident in '95, Manfred was arguably the strongest man in the world. He had back to back wins in the European Musclepower Championship and the World Musclepower Championship and was runner up in the 1994 WSM.

There are some tips at the end of the article and the book has a lot of good training info.

I'll look into it...

I don't follow WCW, but I looked the guy up. He's got big arms, but they are small compared to Manfred's. Just compare his arms to the size of his head and do the same for Manfred. Of course, for all I know, Scott could have a huge head. : )
Scott Steiner:

Rich,

Manfred reads this guestbook once in a while, but you probably want to email him directly (Afsa1000@aol.com). He's the nicest guy and he tries to answer all emails. As for scratching his back, Manfred has quite a bit of flexibility given his size. However, in his book, he says that when he gets really pumped up from a set, it's hard to scratch his ear, let alone his back. :)

I've never asked Manfred if he took steroids. World's Strongest Man has been doing drug testing since 1994, but I'm not sure exactly which substances are banned. As for the second question, I'm sure there are others that claim the same, but nobody that I've seen comes close to Manfred. I would say he has at least 2 inches on Steiner.

Gramen,

As for me, I highly recommend creatine. Here's a good article:
http://www.musclemedia.com/magazine/v67/creatine.html

Also, read the article about Manfred on this site. Every day for 2-3 hours may mean that you are overtraining.

I agree. Manfred is amazing because he bridges the gap between bodybuilding and strongman. He looks good and he's phenomenally strong. He could have easily added a lot of weight which would have helped him in the WSM competitions, but he chose to stay lean.

In the book there are some photos from when Manfred was a bodybuilder. His arms weren't even close to being as big then. Of course, Manfred wasn't a bodybuilder for that long so it's hard to say what would have happened had he stuck with bodybuilding. Still, he gets a lot of press in BB magazines even though he doesn't compete as a bodybuilder.

Actually, as far as I know, there is no official retailer for the videos. There are people out there that will try to sell you bootlegs, but they are often poor quality and over-priced (~$30). The best way to get them is to follow the ESPN schedule as they often cycle through the old competitions in order. For now, check out the video clips in the AV section.

I'll try my best...

There are some tips at the end of the article and the book has a lot of good training info.

You probably want to ask Manfred himself. I would say that you should take another look at your diet. Are you eating enough? Pig out now. You can always lose the fat later. : )

Again, you probably want to email Manfred himself. My advice is to find a good time to workout and a good workout partner. Make it hard to have an excuse and have somebody to give you shit if you don't show up. As for a routine, check out the article. Basically, emphasize intensity, not volume.

You probably want to ask Manfred himself. Read the article. The book also contains a lot of good training tips.

This guestbook is the closest thing to a fan club for now. : )

Did you already email Manfred? He reads this guestbook once in a while, but you probably want to ask him questions directly. Actually, Manfred emailed me a couple of weeks ago and he told me that he plans to start his own line of supplements!

All the pics I have of Manfred are on this site. You should be able to download any image by clicking on it with the right mouse button.

That's not a bad idea. I might just have to tell Manfred that! He probably doesn't follow WCW, but I'm sure he would like it. He knows how to clown around and have fun...

If you come up with specific questions, you probably want to ask Manfred himself. For general info, read the article. The book also contains a lot of good training tips.

I'll have to ask Manfred that. Right now, the old book keeps on selling out. They should be making another printing run soon, hopefully...

Look at the reply two signings up.

Darian, you probably want to email Manfred himself. I've asked Manfred about creatine and he likes it a lot. In fact, he plans to start his own line of supplements sometime in the near future.

BTW, Manfred has fully recovered and gained most of his weight back. However, he is done competing and is now organizing strength athletics.

Ed, Manfred reads this guestbook once in a while. But, if you want a response, you probably want to email Manfred directly.

Make sure you read the article. If that's not enough, buy the book. Also, if you have a very specific question, you may want to email Manfred himself.

Benching 100 kg at a bodyweight of 60 kg is quite impressive! Keep up the good work...

Make sure you read the article. If you have a very specific question, you may want to email Manfred.

I always wondered about this guy. I had heard his measurements but never seen any pictures. Looking at his pic, he has a big chest, but his measurements are way over-exaggerated! Just compare his arms to the size of his head. Then look at some of the pictures of manfred on this site and do the same. There is no comparison! Also, consider that Manfred is 6' 5" whereas Isaac is 6' 0". Guiness better get their act together.

Yeah, I know what the Guiness book of records is. It's a private company. The IFSA recognized Manfred as the man with the world's biggest arms and that is a non-profit, international organization. I'm not saying that Guinness is dishonest, I'm saying that whoever it is that they sent to verify Isaac doesn't know what he or she is doing. I suspect that they measured Isaac's arms pumped and flexed. They should be measured cold and at his side...

Hey man, I started this website because I found out about Manfred and I thought he deserved more recognition. He's a star in Germany but not that well known here in the states.

As for your buddy Isaac, I don't have anything against him. It's just that anybody with half a brain can see that his measurements are exaggerated. If that pic of him on that site is not representative of his true size, I want to see more pics.

Somehow, this signing doesn't sound like Svend Karlsen. : )

Still, I'm keeping my mind open. I want to find out more about Isaac.

Manfred has never competed as a powerlifter, so there are no official stats. I think I remember reading that he benches somewhere between 500 and 600 lbs. In the deadlift he's done 800 lbs in WSM. However, WSM deadlifts are not true deadlifts.

Still, Manfred's arms are what makes him impressive. He curled 440 lbs for two reps. They were cheat curls, but at that weight a strict curl is impossible because you will fall over. : )

Even more impressive are his triceps. In the pressdown, he has to have somebody hold him down because he does more than his bodyweight which is around 300 lbs. Go to the book section and look at the pic in the upper left on the back cover!

Sure you can. If you want to ask the man himself, email Manfred.
