| Greg Kovacs is huge, but last I heard his arms were still an inch smaller than Manfred's. Never trust a picture like that, who knows what is going on behind the arm? : ) Also, notice that the tape measure is not straight up and down. It's at an angle, which makes for a larger circumference. Think of slicing a sausage. When you slice it at an angle the slices are bigger (more elliptical). |
| Chris, the book has sold out world-wide a couple of times. Hopefully there will be another printing soon. Try some other bookstores. I know that I saw a copy at a local Border's, but that was more than a year ago already. |

Jack, sorry for the late reply.
The guy from South Africa is Jake Strauss. His arms are enormous. However, I suspect that he is injecting synthol. Synthol swells up the muscles and makes them look like balloons. Manfred has been accused of this in the past, but if you look at his pictures you can see that his muscles look natural and solid. Jake's look ridiculous. Here's a pic: Of course, I could be wrong. Decide for yourself. I don't know the Canadien. What's his name? Is he all muscle or is there a good amount of fat? |

Arn,
the book has sold out several times already. Hopefully there will be another print run. I'll let you know if I hear anything. |
| Anybody that has seen Manfred use his arms knows that they are for real. |
|
Synthol is an oil that is injected into the belly of the muscle, causing
it to swell. Manfred has been accused
of this in the past, but if you look at his pictures you can see that his
muscles look natural and solid. Synthol makes muscles look puffy like
balloons.
Here's a pic of Jake Strauss: He's the guy that Arn was asking about earlier. He has been accused of using synthol and I agree. I may be wrong though. |

Arn,
it's a tradeoff. You can become more defined but you lose some size. If you are not concerned about being defined, you can be bigger. Bodybuilders alternate between growing during the off-season (that's when they take measurements :-) ), and trimming down for competition. |
| Isaac Nesser comes up every few months. The general consensus has been that his arms may be bigger than Manfred's (the way measurements are taken it is hard to say) but that they are not all muscle. |

| Actually, this is where you are wrong. :-) Manfred is a head taller than any recent Mr. Olympia. That's one thing about bodybuilding that galls me. You are at a disadvantage when you are tall. You have to be much bigger to look as "thick". Of course, Manfred doesn't have that problem! |
| I'm afraid not. I'll let you know if I hear anything. |
I haven't talked to Manfred for some time so I am not sure. He has been there in the past though...
You guys crack me up!
Don't you have anything better to do! :-)
I doubt you want to hear my angle on it, but here goes. It's impossible
to have perfect drug tests, which means that you can't just kick people
out for life if they fail. The only way to fix the problem is to
convince people that they are better off without steroids. That may be
very hard to do...
BTW, steroids are not the easy way out. All that steroids do
for you is allow you to recover faster. You need to have good
genetics and do a lot of hard work to get results. I'm not defending
steroids, I'm just tired of people who complain that the only reason
they are not big is because they don't use steroids. These are the
same people who think that everybody who is big is on steroids. :-)
The truth is that steroids wouldn't help these complainers anyway.
It will only help hardcore lifters. Personally, I don't train hard
enough to even consider steroids. Not that I would use them anyway.
But, I have decent results that I am happy with, and I don't resent
people who are bigger than me. :-)
I haven't talked to Manfred for some time, so I don't know. He has been there the last few years.
Agreed.
My comments weren't necessarily aimed at you. I was just addressing the
misconceptions that a lot of people have about steroids.
